This place was established to commemorate the writer Park Kyung-ni, who left a significant mark on Korean literary history. Her novel “The Daughters of Kim Yak-guk,” set in her hometown of Tongyeong, depicts the downfall of a family and served as a turning point in her literary career. She went on to write the epic novel “Toji (The Land),” which portrays the struggles and sorrows of the Korean people across four generations. By introducing Tongyeong, the writer’s hometown and a source of endless inspiration for her works, this place seeks to deepen the understanding of Park Kyung-ni’s literary world.

Jirisan's Cheonwangbong Peak, and Yeosu's Dolsando Island when you climb to the top of Mt. Mireuk.

Jinjuseong was called Georyeolseong (居列城) during the Three Kingdoms Period and Chokseokseong (矗石城) during the Goryeo Dynasty. It was renamed Jinjuseong during the Joseon Dynasty. The stone fortress has a circumference of about 1,760m (4,359 cheok) and a height of about 5-8m (15 cheok). It is said that there were three wells and three springs and a military storehouse within the fortress.
