Designed to help you study Korean intensively, experience Korean culture, and prepare for university admission in Korea through systematic and dynamic education.

Program Overview

Since its establishment in March 2003, the Kookmin University Korean Language Center has been providing systematic and dynamic Korean language education to approximately 1,800 international students annually from over 15 countries. This intensive program is designed for students who wish to improve their Korean language skills, experience Korean culture, and prepare for university admission in Korea.

  • 4 terms per year (Spring, Summer, Fall, Winter), 10 weeks of intensive classes per term
  • 5 days a week, 4 hours a day (Morning 09:00-12:50 or Afternoon 13:10-17:00)
  • 6 levels from Beginning 1 to Advanced 2
  • Integrated, communication-centered classes – balanced training in listening, speaking, reading, and writing
  • Eligible for D-4-1 Korean language training visa
  • Small classes with a maximum of 15 students per class

Kookmin University Korean Language Center Regular Course Application Guidelines

This guide is for students applying to the regular Korean language course at Kookmin University. Please check the eligibility, required documents, application procedure, tuition, and contact information below.

1. Eligibility

  • Foreigners, overseas Koreans, and immigrants who wish to learn Korean language and culture
  • No minimum educational requirement for regular Korean language courses
  • Applicants with goals to matriculate at Kookmin University for degree programs
  • Anyone interested in improving Korean communication skills for business or employment

2. Application Procedure

  1. Check application period
    Contact the Korean Language Center for current term application deadlines.
  2. Prepare required documents
    Gather application form, photo, passport copy, and other necessary documents (see section 3 below).
  3. Submit application
    Submit application form and documents to the Korean Language Center office (Global Center 205).
    Can be submitted in person or by postal mail.
  4. Pay registration fee
    Pay registration fee of 100,000 KRW (one-time payment for new students).

5. Level Placement

All students take a placement test during orientation to determine their Korean language level. The test evaluates:

Based on test results, students are placed into one of 6 levels: Beginning 1, Beginning 2, Intermediate 1, Intermediate 2, Advanced 1, or Advanced 2.

Kookmin University Korean Language Center Level 1 Curriculum

Beginning 1 is designed for complete beginners with no prior knowledge of Korean. Students will learn Hangul, basic grammar, essential vocabulary, and fundamental communication skills for everyday situations.

By the end of Level 1, students will be able to:
