      Founded in 671 during the reign of King Munmu of Silla, Naksansa Temple is one of Yangyang’s most significant cultural and scenic landmarks. The temple is renowned as one of Korea’s three major Buddhist sites dedicated to Avalokitesvara (Gwaneum), along with Bomunsa Temple in Ganghwa and Boryeom Hermitage in Namhae. Its clifftop location offers sweeping ocean views and a serene atmosphere unique to Korea’s East Coast.

      Hwanseon Cave is one of Korea’s largest limestone caves, with a main passage stretching about 3.3 kilometers and a total mapped length of approximately 6.5 kilometers. The cave and its surroundings form the Daeiri Cave Area, designated as Natural Monument No. 178 for its significant geological value. Inside, visitors encounter vast chambers, underground waterfalls, and dramatic rock formations created over millions of years.
