Emergency Guide for Foreigners in Korea
This guide provides essential steps for foreigners in Korea when facing medical emergencies,
accidents, fires, or urgent danger. Knowing how to respond can save your life or someone else’s.
1. What to Do in an Emergency
Call 119 immediately.
Stay calm and speak slowly.
State your location as clearly as possible.
Ask for an interpreter if needed.
Follow all instructions from the operator.
2. Information You Must Provide
Your exact location (address, building name, landmark).
The type of emergency (injury, illness, fire, accident, etc.).
The number of people involved or injured.
Serious symptoms (not breathing, unconscious, heavy bleeding, chest pain, etc.).
Your phone number in case they need to call you back.
Important: Do not hang up until the operator tells you to.
3. Hospitals & Emergency Rooms
Most general hospitals in Korea have 24/7 Emergency Rooms (ER).
Foreigners can visit any ER without an appointment.
